City Compiles Expanded List of Resources for Immigrant and Refugee Communities

Philadelphia –  On Monday, November 21, the Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) and the Kenney Administration held a forum attended by more than 120 community leaders and members from different parts of the city, where they listened to concerns about the potential impact of the recent presidential election.  A major takeaway from the gathering was the need for a centralized list of the many organizations that provide legal assistance to immigrant and refugee communities.  In response, the Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) today released an expanded list of local organizations that provide legal assistance to new Philadelphians.

“This is just one of the many small ways we’re trying to show the immigrant community that the City of Philadelphia has your back,” said Miriam Enriquez, OIA Director.  “For many immigrants, just navigating the resources available to you can be extremely challenging. This list is meant to act as a one-stop shop for legal assitance.”

The listing can be found on the city’s website, located here. In the future, OIA anticipates convening regular gatherings to learn other ways we can serve the immigrant and refugee community given the impact of federal immigration action.
