The Philadelphia City Planning Commission is working with residents and community groups along Fairmount Avenue to update zoning regulations on this important corridor. The focus area is Fairmount Avenue, between Broad Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. This process may change the regulations of some uses, sizes, and shapes of what can be built along the focus area. Zoning is not able to regulate construction techniques, rental vs. owner-occupied housing types, property management, trash, morals, crime, behavior, or customer base.
The Philadelphia City Planning Commission will host meetings to hear community thoughts and opinions, explain the zoning process, and eventually review the proposed changes to zoning maps for Fairmount Avenue, between Broad Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
The first Open House meeting will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2026, form 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St Andrew’s Church Hall (1911 Wallace Street – enter at 19th and North Streets).
