Cobbs Creek Eastwick Trail Project

Project Status: Design

This project will design a 10 to 12-foot-wide paved multi-purpose trail between Island Avenue and the Eastwick Regional Playground near 80th Street. The goal of this project is to provide Cobbs Creek and Eastwick residents with safe access to open space and recreational opportunities as well as a way to reach destinations without a motor vehicle.

This trail will extend the Cobbs Creek Trail from Island Avenue and connect it to the existing trail that runs between the Eastwick Regional Playground and the Heinz National Wildlife Refuge.  This trail will be part of the East Coast Greenway and the Circuit Trails Network.

Project Features:

  • 1.1 miles of paved multi-purpose trail
  • Direct walking and biking connections for the Cibotti and Eastwick Recreation Centers, Penrose Elementary School, and Heinz Wildlife Refuge
  • New trail lighting, trash receptacles, and security cameras
  • Coordinating with Office of Sustainability on near-term Cobbs Creek flood barrier
