Commissioners
According to the Philadelphia Home Rule Charter, the Gas Commission must have five Commissioners at one time, including:
- Two appointees of the Mayor.
- Two appointees of the City Council.
- The City Controller.
Mayoral and City Council appointees serve for four years, or until their successor is appointed. The City Controller serves for their entire elected term in office. All members serve without pay. All Commission expenses are paid from PGW revenues, not from the City's general fund.
