What we do
The Office of Public Safety (OPS) was established by executive order in 2024 by Mayor Cherelle L. Parker. We coordinate cross-departmental efforts to promote public safety and provide input to City agencies on matters like resource deployment, policy formulation, and stakeholder engagement.
OPS oversees the following offices:
- Division of Safe Neighborhoods
- Office of the Victim Advocate
- Division of Reentry
- Division of Criminal Justice
- Town Watch Integrated Services
- Division of Overdose Response
- Community Partnerships - Kensington
- Neighborhood Wellness Court and Quality of Life Initiatives
- Division of Community Grants
OPS partners closely with the Managing Director's Office. We also provide strategic coordination and support for the Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Fire Department, the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, the Department of Public Health, and the Department of Prisons.
