Office of Public Safety

Uniting community and government to create safe communities, reduce violence, enact criminal justice reform, and support returning citizens.

Office of Public Safety

What we do

The Office of Public Safety (OPS) was established by executive order in 2024 by Mayor Cherelle L. Parker. We coordinate cross-departmental efforts to promote public safety and provide input to City agencies on matters like resource deployment, policy formulation, and stakeholder engagement.

OPS oversees the following offices:

OPS partners closely with the Managing Director's Office. We also provide strategic coordination and support for the Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Fire Department, the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, the Department of Public Health, and the Department of Prisons.
