The City of Philadelphia switched to a cloud-based, integrated tax system three years ago. The Philadelphia Tax Center replaced our 35-year-old system on November 1, 2021. Since then, the system has evolved, making it easier to do more on the go, but this is just the beginning.
You can file and pay taxes and manage multiple accounts from anywhere and on any mobile device. In addition, the Tax Center lets you track loss carryforwards electronically, eFile City taxes previously only filed on paper, and so much more.
We’re counting down five metrics to show what the site has achieved as of November 1, 2021:
5. 42,315 – We’ve received over 42,000 electronic petitions for Wage Tax refunds. It’s easy to file a refund petition on the Philadelphia Tax Center. You can access the forms right from the site’s front page. You don’t need a username and password. Online submissions are faster, more accurate, and petitioners can easily upload supporting documents.
4. 44,662 – Homeowners have submitted almost 45,000 property tax relief program applications through the Tax Center. The majority of them are for the Homestead Exemption—38,112 applications. The quickest and easiest way to get help lowering your property tax bill is to apply online. It saves you time and postage, speeds up processing, and reduces errors.
3. 203,883 – More than 200,000 Tax Center usernames and passwords have been created. While you don’t need a username and password to pay bills online, creating one gives you access to more self-service options, like viewing past correspondence, balances, and payment histories, and transferring credits between accounts.
You won’t even need to call or come to us for services like applying for tax credits, assistance programs, payment agreements, submitting refund requests, updating or closing your tax account. You get access to all these features when you sign up.
In the past, businesses and tax professionals had to call us for tax records. Their records were then mailed to them. Today, they can access these documents anytime and from anywhere!
2. 338,846 – Revenue has received nearly 340,000 payments through the Philadelphia Tax Center, including 278,468 payments from taxpayers who didn’t use a username and password. The site makes paying bills online super simple. You don’t need a username and password. Just pay as a “guest”. It’s that easy! It’s also safe and secure.
