On Saturday, February 25, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., Kelly Pool will open its doors for the Philly Phreeze, a one-day-only winter pool plunge to support lifeguard recruitment.

This first-ever pool plunge fundraiser will support end-of-summer bonuses of up to $1000 for City lifeguards.

Philadelphians can sign up to dive into a freezing pool to help open all of the City’s free outdoor pools this summer.

Individuals who fundraise a minimum of $50 can join their neighbors to take the plunge for Philly pools.

Here are five cool reasons to be part of the Philly Phreeze pool plunge:

  1. Philadelphia’s 60+ public pools are an important part of summer. To safely open all our pools this year, Parks & Rec needs 400 lifeguards!
  2. Thousands of young people learn to swim for free each summer in the City’s public pools.
  3. Public pools are a free, fun way for families to make summer memories.
  4. When temperatures soar, pools offer relief from the heat, and a fun way to cool down.
  5. Lifeguards work hard all summer to keep us safe. The Philly Phreeze fundraiser will give our hard working lifeguards the end-of-season thank you they deserve.
Join us and the Parks & Rec Heroes Fund for the first ever Philly Phreeze pool plunge!
