PHILADELPHIA – The City of Philadelphia announced today that cooling buses with air conditioning will be parked and available to the public this weekend at the following intersections:

  • Germantown Ave. and Allegheny Ave., 19133
  • Wyoming Ave. and Rising Sun Ave., 19120
  • Broad St. and Snyder Ave., 19145
  • 52nd St. and Larchwood Ave., 19143

Hours of operation are:

  • Friday, July 22: 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 23: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 24: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Masks, hand sanitizer,  water, and information about heat safety and utility assistance programs will be available on the buses. 

The City of Philadelphia requests consideration for the privacy of anyone using the cooling buses. Interviews with City representatives about this effort may be requested via email.  Images of the cooling buses are available for download. 

As announced earlier in the week, the City of Philadelphia’s Heat Health Emergency response also includes twelve cooling centers located in libraries, and the activation of the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s Heatline: 215-765-9040.
