At around 9:47 p.m. on July 4, 2022 two officers were shot on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway during the city’s Fourth of July concert and fireworks. The Parkway was evacuated. Both officers were treated and released from the hospital later that night.

Philadelphia Police continues to investigate this incident. On, July 6, City officials held a press conference and provided updates about the Parkway shooting and investigation.

The Philadelphia Police Department is asking anyone who was in the area of 2500 Benjamin Franklin Parkway that may have witnessed anything unusual leading up to or immediately following the shooting of a Philadelphia Police Officer and a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Officer to please contact the Philadelphia Police Department.

The Philadelphia Police Department is also requesting that individuals who were taking photos or videos in the area of 2500 Benjamin Franklin Parkway at the time of the incident submit their pictures or recordings to tips@phillypolice.com.
