Tell Us What You Want in a New Trail in NE Philly,
Residents of Far Northeast Philadelphia!

Old bridgeGreenway mapThe Philadelphia City Planning Commission (PCPC) has secured funding to consider extending the Lower Poquessing Trail from Junod Playground in the Parkwood neighborhood to Glen Foerd on the Delaware.  We need your input!

Along the route, the trail would weave in and out of the watershed’s woods to connect destinations like Ben Rush State Park, Philadelphia Community College, Philadelphia Mills Mall, Holy Family University, and the Torresdale Regional Rail Station.  It will also connect residents and community resources along the way. Perhaps the most exciting feature, at Glen Foerd, trail users will be able to hop on the future East Coast Greenway, a 3000-mile trail under development that will connect Maine and Key West, FL, via Philadelphia.

But first, we need your help designing the trail. What is the ideal route? What kind of trail? Who are the future users? How is the trail accessed? How do we ensure safety and maintenance?

PCPC, in partnership with Parks & Recreation and the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, will be hosting two interactive public meetings to create a vision of the trail. You are invited to both, to be held virtually. At the first meeting, we’ll consider some of the more challenging barriers to the trail route, and alternatives to get around them. At the second meeting, you’ll help us refine our draft final report.

Now is the time to get involved. By spring 2022, we will deliver the final report to our partner agencies, who will begin the needed cost estimates to gather development funding.
