PHILADELPHIA – Registration is now open for the 3rd Annual Philadelphia Career Empowerment Fair, which for the first time will feature private sector employers, and – for participants – a mobile app.

The Fair will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. It is free and open to the community. Those interested in attending the Empowerment Fair are encouraged to register at www.empowermentfair.eventbrite.com.

Whether hoping to find a fresh start, a better job, or a new career direction, job seekers will find a wide variety of opportunities and resources at the Career Empowerment Fair. Local employers from both the public and private sectors will be present. Community members will be able to meet these employers to discuss career development opportunities.

“We’ve been very pleased with the success of the Career Empowerment Fair in its first two years,” said Tracey Bryant, Director of Human Resources and Talent. “This year, we’re excited to build upon this success by including private employers in addition to public sector agencies – providing even more opportunities for Philadelphians to receive resources and make connections that enhance their employment search.

Also new this year: attendees can download the “Career Fair Plus app” to their smartphone for use before and during the Fair. The app can be downloaded on iOS, Android or viewed on a browser. The app will provide up-to-date information about the fair, including participating employers, workshops and resources, as well as other event announcements.

In addition, the City has partnered with PA CareerLink to provide a variety of workshops throughout the month of July in order to prepare job seekers for their interactions with employers. Career fair participants will also have the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops led by industry professionals at the fair. More information about these workshops can be found at www.phila.gov/empowermentfair.

Employers interested in participating in the Fair can contact Chris Nelson, Talent Acquisition Manager, at 215-686-2343 or email EmpowermentFair@phila.gov.
