Today, we celebrated the opening of a brand new engagement center to serve Philadelphia’s most vulnerable citizens.

What is the Hub of Hope?

The Hub of Hope, located in the Center City sub-concourse, provides a gateway to vital services and care for Philadelphia’s homeless.

Since 2012, the Hub of Hope has placed thousands of those experiencing chronic homelessness into shelter, treatment and other housing options.

In 2017, 1,462 individuals visited the Hub of Hope more than 11,000 times.

This new permanent facility will be open Monday-Friday from 7am-7pm and on weekends, year-round, not just during winter’s cold months.

How will the Hub of Hope help?

Hub of Hope will offer those without shelter a safe place to enjoy a meal with dignity, take a shower, use the bathroom and wash laundry.

Most importantly, the Hub of Hope will allow visitors to more easily access critical services.

Staff at the center will continue to engage, assess and place individuals experiencing homelessness into shelter, treatment or other long-term housing opportunities.

Ultimately, this facility will help put people without a place to stay on the pathway to stable housing.

Partners in the effort to end homelessness

The new and improved Hub of Hope wouldn’t be possible without the support of many individuals, organizations and businesses.

The City of Philadelphia worked closely with SEPTA and Project HOME in making the Hub of Hope a reality.

“We know that City government can’t solve homelessness alone,” said Mayor Jim Kenney. “This kind of partnership shows what we can do when we all work together.”
