Trail User Permits
To improve your trail experience, please make sure to review the rules and regulations. Keep an eye out for markers which let you know who's permitted where. If you are an equestrian or plan to mountain bike on the trails, it is required you receive a Trail User Permit.
Trail Permit Registration is now available online.
Schuylkill River Trail
Don't miss the new 25-mile Schuylkill River Trail which runs from downtown Philadelphia (making use of the Fairmount Park trails and the Manayunk Canal Tow Path) to Oaks in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. On a sunny, weekend day you'll see that many are taking advantage of this opportunity to get some exercise.
Fairmount Park is currently updating our detailed maps of the Pennypack Park and the Wissahickon Valley Park.
The Friends of the Wissahickon have a great trail map of the Wissahickon Valley Park.
We're Keeping Count
Philadelphia Parks & Recreation uses both the Trafx vehicle counters
and Trafx infrared trail counters
to gather trail usage data throughout the park system. Accurate trail usage data helps the department allocate resources correctly and more efficiently. To learn more about the counters used by Parks & Recreation, visit Trafx.net
