Golf Course
A "claim to fame" for the Olde Course is its national recognition as the "Sixth Best Municipal Golf Course in the United States" by Golfweek Magazine. A product of the legendary golf course planner Hugh Wilson (who also designed Merion East in nearby Ardmore, PA), the Olde Course was built in 1916.
Accuracy is a must on the front nine as the layout takes full advantage of Cobbs Creek, which meanders through the course and comes into play on the first six holes (seven altogether). The back nine is equally challenging and is highlighted by a string of lengthy holes including the monstrous 638-yard 14th Hole. The Olde Course is a Philadelphia landmark and is a Must Play.

The Karakung Course was completed in the 1930s, and shares the character and charm of its sister course, yet meets the challenge of the everyday golfer.
Although length may not be a factor, accuracy is a must as this enjoyable course is interspersed by medium-sized greens. The Karakung Course features several elevation changes, so choose your clubs carefully. The course is as equally challenging as it is beautiful.

Dating back to 1940, the FDR Golf Club with its par 69, Florida-style layout, is relatively flat and open. Since club selection is often dictated by the prevailing winds, you can play FDR often and never play the same course twice. Wide fairways provide generous landing areas and large-sized greens are well guarded by numerous bunkers. In addition to natural wetlands, a canal runs through the course and crosses the fairway of the 420-yard signature 10th hole. Overall, water hazards can come into play on a total of ten holes. Franklin D. Roosevelt Golf Club features magnificent views of the Philadelphia skyline that will serve as a backdrop on many of your shots.

In the early 1960s the City of Philadelphia purchased this course and later renamed it the John F. Byrne Golf Club after the famous Philadelphia councilman. The layout is one of the most respected courses in Philadelphia and has hosted numerous tournaments including the Philadelphia PGA Senior Publinks Championship.
Nestled in and around a valley, the course features a variety of tree-lined and open fairways. Several elevated tees and greens accent the rolling terrain, creating dramatic changes in elevation. The Torresdale Creek winds its way through the course, coming into play on a total of ten holes. In addition to the water hazards, this picturesque golf course features oversized bunkers that are strategically placed to protect the medium-sized greens.

Located within Fairmount Park's Wissahickon Valley Park you'll find this exquisite tract designed by legendary golf architect Alex Findlay. Lined by majestic trees, this golf course opened for play in 1940.
The unique layout will catch your eye as several of its holes are cleverly tucked away in hills and valleys. The undulating greens vary in size and are protected by deep bunkers that make accuracy a must. Try your skill at several of the tremendous par 3s. The 184-yard fifth hole is the most well-known on the course, holding the distinction of being a mild dogleg left par 3. Although Walnut Lane is the shortest of the Philadelphia public golf courses, it will challenge your mastery of the short game.
