Life Partnership allows same-sex couples to have their long-term committed relationship officially recognized by the City. Registration gives same-sex couples certain rights and benefits that are available to opposite-sex married couples.
Life Partnership is defined by Section 9-1102(1)(r) of the City’s Fair Practices Ordinance.
To register your Life Partnership, you must provide us with a Verification Statement and evidence that you and your partner have been “interdependent” for at least three months.
To terminate your Life Partnership, you must provide us either with a Joint Termination Statement or with an Individual Termination Statement and a Proof of Service.
