(Philadelphia, August 5) – Testing of elevators at the Stout Center for Criminal Justice following Thursday’s incident will continue throughout the weekend.

A decision on whether the Stout Center will reopen for Court business Monday will be announced by Court officials, after consultation with the City, on Sunday.

The elevators were last inspected on June 14, 2016 by an independent, third-party, state certified inspector, and not a state employee as first announced.

There is no official cause of the incident at this time. There is also no update on the condition of the person injured in the crash.

Preliminary arraignments, emergency protection from abuse services, and bail acceptance operations will still be accessible in the basement of the Stout Center throughout the weekend.
