PHILADELPHIA – As part of an ongoing effort to increase government accessibility, Mayor Jim Kenney will expand the popular #AskKenney Twitter chats across several different mediums, answering Philadelphians questions on television, radio and in neighborhood newspapers every month.
“Giving citizens several different direct lines to their Mayor is an important step towards our goal of making city government more accessible to Philadelphians than ever before,” said Mayor Kenney. “I’ve been committed to constituent service since my earliest days in politics because I believe that I’m best able to serve Philadelphians when I am personally confronted with their needs and concerns. So, I’m very much looking forward to the expansion of #AskKenney.”
Starting at 6:00 PM on February 9, 2016, the Mayor will make a monthly appearance on The Nick Taliaferro Show on 900-AM WURD, where he’ll take listener questions for 30 minutes. Interested callers can dial 215- 634-8065 at the time of the Mayor’s scheduled appearance.
The Mayor will also answer reader questions in a different neighborhood newspaper every month, starting with The Northeast Times on February 17, 2016. Interested citizens should submit their questions to the times at pronews@bsmphilly.com by February 12, 2016.
Additionally, the Mayor will answer citizen questions during a monthly segment on Philadelphia Government Access Channel 64. The first segment will air on February 25, 2016 at 7:30 PM. Questions can be emailed to James.Kenney@phila.gov or mailed to the Mayor at City Hall, Office 215 Philadelphia 19107.
The #AskKenney Twitter chats will also continue. The first one will take place at 3:00 PM on February 5. To participate, ask your questions on Twitter using the #AskKenney hashtag any time before the Twitter Chat begins or while the Twitter Chat occurs, from 3:00-4:00 PM.
