Philadelphia-based Organizations Receive $807,000 from More Than $82 Million Awarded Nationwide

Philadelphia – Today, the City of Philadelphia announced that 33 local arts organizations and the City have received funding awards from National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), totaling $807,000.   Grants will support a wide range of activities and represent a significant federal investment in the quality and quantity of and public access to art works and activities, furthering learning, creativity, and engagement.

“We are not only excited to be a recipient of an NEA grant for the restoration of the William Penn sculpture atop of City Hall, but also to be in the company of such a diverse group of arts organization awardees,” said Kelly Lee, Chief Cultural Officer for the City of Philadelphia. “The creative work of all of these NEA grant recipients will benefit every neighborhood in the city of Philadelphia.”

NEA Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects and partnerships in the NEA’s second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2016.

“The arts are all around us, enhancing our lives in ways both subtle and obvious, expected and unexpected,” said NEA Chairman Jane Chu. “Supporting Philadelphia’s vibrant arts community offers residents and visitors more opportunities to engage in the arts every day.”
