Project Status: Design
The goal of this project is to provide a safe route to and from Womrath Park and extend the Frankford Creek Greenway northward from the intersection of Torresdale/Adams to Kensington Avenue.
This is a trail for people walking and biking comprised of sidepaths and on-street protected bike lanes. This project will build 0.4 miles of walking and biking connections along Torresdale Avenue, Worrell Street, Adams Avenue, and Kensington Avenue. It will connect nearby communities to Womrath Park, the Delaware River, Tacony Creek Park, and the region’s Circuit Trails network. Frankford and Torresdale avenues are identified as part of Philadelphia’s High-Injury Network, the 12% of streets where 80% of severe and fatal traffic crashes occur. This project will improve safety for the most vulnerable road users, people walking, using mobility devices, or biking.
Project Features:
- New Rectangle Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) for pedestrian crossings at the intersections of Torresdale Avenue/Worrell Street and Adams Avenue/Frankford Avenue
- Widening existing sidewalks along to create Shared Use Paths along: Worrell Street between Torresdale and Frankford, Frankford Avenue between Worrell and Adams, Adams Avenue between Frankford and Kensington
- Widening existing sidewalks adjacent to Womrath Park
