Park Friends groups are community-led organizations that partner with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy (FPC) to make local parks stronger. Together, we work to create welcoming community spaces and foster positive experiences with nature.
Typical Friends group activities include:
- Park cleanup and beautification days.
- Fundraising events.
- Organizing recreational and educational programs.
- Advocating for park improvements.
- Publicizing important issues.
- Resource management.
There are more than 100 active Friends groups in Philadelphia ranging from large 501(c)(3) organizations with several hundred members to small community groups of a few dedicated neighbors.
Whether you have a little or a lot of time to give, Parks & Rec appreciates your help! We do all we can to provide services, resources, and training for Friends groups members.
