Park Friends groups

Park Friends groups are community-led organizations that partner with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy (FPC) to make local parks stronger. Together, the partners work to create welcoming community spaces and foster positive experiences with nature.

Activities

Typical Friends group activities include:

  • Park cleanup and beautification days.
  • Fundraising events.
  • Organizing recreational and educational programming.
  • Advocating for park improvements.
  • Publicizing important issues.
  • Resource management.

Currently, there are more than 100 active Friends groups that range from large 501(c)(3) organizations with several hundred members to smaller community groups of a few dedicated neighbors.
