    The 20th Annual Sugar Cane Festival returns! The Festival honors the historic significance of the sugarcane crop for generations of Puerto Ricans and recognizes the sugarcane workers who migrated from the Island to Philadelphia to work in the refinery. We will again have pavas and sugarcane to hand out to Festival attendees. Come early to get yours!

    The Penn Medicine Orphan Disease Center (ODC) will host the 10th Annual Million Dollar Bike Ride on Saturday, June 8, 2024 to raise money for rare disease research.

    The Million Dollar Bike Ride brings over 600 cyclists and volunteers to Penn’s campus to ride either 10, 32, or 72 miles starting in the city, and ranging across the Greater Philadelphia region. In ten years, the MDBR’s 30+ teams have raised over $20 million to fund research grants on the diseases they represent. The ODC ensures that 100% of the funds received goes towards these pilot grants.

    The country’s largest Black and African cultural festival — now in its 49th year and drawing nearly 500,000 attendees — brings an authentic taste of Africa to South Philadelphia. ODUNDE begins with a week of events and culminates on Sunday, June 9, 2024 with an outdoor festival featuring dozens of vendors, live music and performances, and pay-as-you-go African, Caribbean and soul food dishes.
