Just in time for summer break, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation is preparing to open more than 60 outdoor public pools. The pools will open on a rolling basis beginning Friday, June 12. A kickoff event will be held at 2p.m., Friday, June 12 at John B. Kelly Pool.

All pools will offer swim lessons for more than 6,000 summer camps enrolled in Parks & Recreation programs. Free lessons for children will also be available at select sites, with additional instruction for adults at select locations.

Due to ongoing repairs, seven neighborhood pools will remain closed this season while major capital work is completed. These facilities will undergo a combined $70 million investment in upgrades and reconstruction, including the following locations: Cohen Pool, CB Moore Pool, Vogt Pool, Feltonville Pool, McVeigh Pool, Lawncrest Pool, and Cherashore Pool.
