In response to the recent federal government shutdown, the City of Philadelphia has launched the One Philly Federal Furloughed Renter Relief Program. This initiative is designed to assist Philadelphia renters employed by the federal government who faced economic hardship and were unable to pay rent during the recent government shutdown. The application for this program is now available!
The program is exclusively for federally employed renters and offers a one-time grant of $1,000 to eligible households. Applications will be accepted from Monday, December 1, 2025, to Friday, December 12, 2025, or until funding is exhausted.
Who can apply
To qualify for the One Philly Federal Furloughed Renter Relief Program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Currently a Philadelphia resident.
- Must be a renter.
- Must be directly employed by a federal government agency (contractors are not eligible).
- Must have been furloughed or working without pay during the recent government shutdown.
- Must earn 100 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) or less annually. Check to see if you meet the income limit.
You also need to submit all the required documentation:
- Federal work identification.
- Proof of residency that includes your name and address (e.g. current lease, recent utility bill, recent bank statement, etc.)
- Federal agency notice or official communication regarding your furlough status.
- A voided check, formal banking statement, or bank letter showing your full bank account number and routing number.
