Join us in planning for Philadelphia’s future! The Philadelphia City Planning Commission is updating the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan influences the way the city looks, how public spaces and infrastructure are supported, and the big decisions Philadelphia will face over time. We’re calling it Philadelphia2050: Planning Together.

Philadelphia2050 will build upon the current comprehensive plan. Planning Commission staff want to evaluate what recommendations in the City’s current comprehensive plan worked well and what recommendations need improvement. They will look at existing conditions in Philadelphia and beyond, update and analyze data, and use an ambitious community engagement strategy to form a new set of recommendations for City agencies and advisory boards to follow.

There will be many opportunities for Philadelphians to shape Philadelphia2050. To make sure this plan reflects the needs of Philadelphians, the Planning Commission will partner with neighborhood groups and community organizations to collect feedback and help residents highlight what about our city is important to them. These Community Partners will be paid for their work helping to lead community engagement for Philadelphia2050.

Community Partners will take a specialized Citizens Planning Institute course to learn about comprehensive planning and strengthen skills in data collection and analysis. With support from City staff, they will host community engagement activities, help shape the final Comprehensive Plan and share what they learn with their communities.
