Do you need some compost, mulch, or wood chips? Grab a shovel, some containers, and come on down to the Fairmount Park Organic Recycling Center. Any Philadelphia resident with an ID can get up to 30 gallons of FREE organic materials, up to twice per week.

You’ll need to bring your own shovel and containers. How much is 30 gallons? Six 5-gallon buckets, or containers and bags equal to that.

Need more than that? Don’t worry. Residents who want more than 30 gallons can buy the extra material. View the rates on the Fairmount Park Organic Recycling Center price sheet.

If you need more than 30 gallons, you’ll need to weigh your vehicle on the scale before the recycling center staff can load your materials. Before charging you, the staff will weigh your vehicle again.  Money from organic materials purchases supports the efforts of the recycling center.

Please note the center only accepts credit cards and checks. Cash is not accepted.
