PHILADELPHIA – The Streets Department is announcing the replacement of a guide rail along Shady Lane in Fox Chase the week of May 6. Starting Monday, May 6 at 7:00 a.m., the city’s contractor will be closing Shady Lane to begin removal of existing concrete blocks and a guide rail at the city’s border with Abington Township. Shady Lane will remain closed through Wednesday, May 8 at 3:00 p.m. to allow the contractor to install a new guide rail and impact attenuators along the culvert at the city’s border.

During the full three-day closure detour routes will be in place. Road closure signs will be in placed in advance at Pine Rd/Shady Lane, Huntingdon Pike/Shady Lane, and Rockledge Ave/Shady Lane directing motorists towards Huntingdon Pike and Pine Road. Due to the removal of the existing concrete barrier and guide rail, it will be unsafe to open the roadway to traffic until the installation of the new guide rail is complete.

This work is being completed by Ramos and Associates Contractors and funded through Automated Red-Light Enforcement (ARLE).
