PHILADELPHIA – Streets Commissioner Kristin Del Rossi announced today that a consultant team led by Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) was selected and awarded the contract for the Spring Garden Connector Project. The project will consist of the engineering planning, design, and project management for multimodal improvements to Spring Garden Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Christopher Columbus Boulevard creating a road that is safer and greener for all users.

The Spring Garden Connector Project will include traffic signal and intersection improvements; roadway resurfacing; signage and striping improvements; median improvements; lighting and streetscape improvements; pedestrian and bicycle lane improvements; ADA improvements; upgrades and improvements to PWD facilities including drainage, stormwater management, water, and wastewater systems; and other miscellaneous improvements. This work is being performed to improve motorist, bicyclist, and pedestrian safety along the corridor.

The value of the design contract is approximately $5M and is being funded using a combination of City, State, and Federal Funds. Design is expected to commence immediately and expected to be completed by Fall 2025, with bidding and construction to follow.
