PHILADELPHIA – Lincoln Drive, between Wissahickon Avenue and Ridge Avenue / Kelly Drive, will be closed temporarily on Saturday, December 2, Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams, announced today.  The following temporary full closure is scheduled to be in effect from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday:

  • Southbound Lincoln Drive traffic will be blocked at Wissahickon Drive.  A marked detour will carry traffic to the end of Lincoln Drive at Ridge Avenue, by way of Walnut Lane.
  • Northbound traffic will be blocked at all entrances to the south end of Lincoln Drive.  No detour is provided for northbound traffic, due to the numerous entrances.  Walnut Lane or Schoolhouse Lane are suggested detours.
  • Due to the volume of workers and equipment, pedestrian and bicycle traffic are also prohibited during this closure.

The temporary closure will allow City employees to safely complete various repairs along this winding stretch of road.  This work has been scheduled for weekend hours to expedite repairs and minimize disruption to motorists and provide the safest work environment for employees.  Police Department assistance will be on site to help maintain a safe traffic flow in the area.

All work will be completed, and traffic will be restored by 2:00 p.m.  For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to affected drivers, residents, and businesses.  The Streets Department thanks citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
