With summer’s end, it’s a wrap on our popular summer camps. But the fun continues into the school year at Philadelphia Parks & Rec! Our after school programs provide your child with structured activity during non-school hours. Programs take place at local rec centers and playgrounds.

Our caring staff are trained to provide a safe, welcoming environment. Children can have fun, eat nutritious snacks, and make friends.

Here’s everything you need to know about these great programs:

WHO: After school programs are available to young people ages 6-12.

WHAT: Parks & Rec after school programs allow youth to play, learn, and grow. Highlights include:

  • Sports, athletics, and games. 
  • Environmental education and outdoor activities.
  • Arts–creative, performing, and visual.
  • Reading and STEM.
  • Culture and community awareness.
  • Health and wellness.

WHERE: 101 Parks & Rec sites will host programs during the 2023-2024 school year. Spaces are still available at some sites. Other sites may have reached program capacity. Find an after school program near you. Be sure to use the site contact info to check availability.

WHEN:

  • After school programs begin Monday, September 11, 2023. The programs run through Friday, June 7, 2024. That’s the last full week of school for the School District of Philadelphia.
  • Typical programs take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Hours vary by site based on neighborhood school dismissal times.

HOW: Find a program near you using our Finder app. Be sure to check availability and register at your local recreation center.

  • Parks & Rec’s after school programs can serve up to 2,500 students in a typical year.
