Construction is now underway on a $6.9 million renovation of the Dell Music Center. Local radio legends Patty Jackson and Lady B joined City leaders to praise the Dell at a recent groundbreaking ceremony.
Due to construction, The Dell will host a condensed 2023 concert series. The 2023 Essence of Entertainment series is expected to run from mid-August to September 2023.
The Dell was built in 1929. The multimillion-dollar project includes renovations to:
- The stage
- The roof
- The green room
- Backstage
- Offices
- Bathrooms with expanded ADA access
Other upgrades include installing:
- A new electrical system.
- A modern stormwater management system.
- Water fountains with water bottle filling stations.
These upgrades will ensure the Dell continues to host renowned artists for years to come. The one-of-a-kind venue provides diverse cultural entertainment at affordable prices.
The Dell will announce opening dates and lineup for the 2023 concert season in May. The box office expects to open to the public in June 2023.

The City-run outdoor amphitheater is located in East Fairmount Park. It has hosted performances from artists such as:
- Aretha Franklin
- Teddy Pendergrass
- Patti Labelle
