Applications to join the 2023 – 2024 Serve Philadelphia VISTA cohort are open!

“A year of service with the Serve Philadelphia VISTA Program can be one of the best ways to become an informed citizen.” – Wadia Gardner, Communications and Outreach VISTA at the Office of Sustainability.

VISTAs are AmeriCorps members who commit to one full year of service alleviating poverty and creating equal opportunity for all in Philadelphia. They work in various City departments on goals including affordable housing, food security, access to quality education and healthcare, and more. See how our current cohort is making a difference.

Are you ready to make a difference this year?

VISTAs receive a modest living stipend plus healthcare, tuition reimbursement, and other support alongside numerous opportunities for personal and professional development. Whatever your talents and interests are, there is a place and a project for you.

To apply, you must submit your resume, descriptions of your volunteer experience, at least two references, and a statement of purpose. The application closes on April 3 at 11:59 PM. Learn more about the process.

“The network of AmeriCorps members is spread across the country and the title is well respected. I have noticed that professionals are impressed with the fact I chose to complete a year of service, and when I meet AmeriCorps members and alumni, it’s always exciting and there is a lot to talk about. After service, I plan to use my Segal Education Award towards my graduate program.” – Hannah Bressi, COVID Recovery VISTA at the Department of Health and Human Services

Still not convinced? Join us at a virtual Open House event to learn more about the program and hear stories from our current cohort.
