The City of Philadelphia has announced the launch of the Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund, a citywide grant program that will award grants to trusted community-based organizations working with communities impacted by the overdose crisis. 

The Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund will reinvest opioid settlement funds into prevention and community healing efforts through a community-driven process. Grants are available to eligible community-based organizations across Philadelphia, with special consideration given to organizations serving highly impacted areas in Kensington and North Philadelphia. 

Two types of grants are available through the Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund: 

  • Capacity-Building grants for $20,000 support a wide range of general operating uses. 
  • Program grants for $100,000 provide direct support for programs and projects that advance one of the grant focus areas. 

All grant applications will be reviewed by a community-led grant selection committee that will submit their final recommendations in spring 2023. The Scattergood Foundation is partnering with the City to operate the fund, supporting grantmaking activities and administering grants as well as providing technical assistance to grantees.  

Applications will open on December 20, 2022.

How to apply

Beginning December 20, 2022, organizations may apply to the Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund through the Scattergood Foundation’s website. The deadline to apply is February 3, 2023.
