Tis the season for family, faith, fun and of course, sparkle! Philly is unwrapping the holidays with classic holiday staples and new jolly experiences. To ring in the holiday cheer, the City of Philadelphia has you covered from Thanksgiving until New Years! Take a peek at a few of our favorite things.

  • The 6abc Dunkin Thanksgiving Day Parade is the oldest known Thanksgiving parade in the country! Join us, Thursday, November 24th on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway or watch live starting at 8:30am on 6abc.
  • Christmas Village presented by Bank of America opens shop for its 15th holiday season and transforms LOVE Park and City Hall into an authentic open-air German Christmas Market from Thursday, November 24th to Saturday, December 24th. Follow the smell of gingerbread and hot cocoa to Center City where you will find the double-tier Christmas Village Carousel, magical giant Ferris Wheel and the whimsical Kids’ Train.
  • The Official City of Philadelphia Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration presented by 6abc in partnership with Bank of America will officially kick off the holidays in Philadelphia on Thursday, December 1st  from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM at City Hall. This festive evening will feature free exciting entertainment and family-friendly activities. Mayor Jim Kenney and special guests will lead the grand finale: the lighting of a spectacular 55-foot white fir, strung with more than 4,000 lights. Can’t make it in person? Enjoy this festive evening from the comfort of your home and watch it live on 6abc.
  • The VISIT PHILADELPHIA Holiday Parade is back for its 2nd year! The parade will celebrate all of winter’s holidays including Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and the Chinese New Year. On Saturday, December 3rd, the parade will kick-off at 5:00 PM at 2nd & Market Streets and will proceed up Market Street, ending at City Hall.
  • The City of Philadelphia is excited to celebrate the season by lighting Boathouse Row in honor of Hanukkah (starting Dec. 18), Christmas (starting Dec. 24) and Kwanzaa (starting Dec. 26). Check out the Holiday Spotlight Page for more information on virtual events to kick off each holiday!
  • For New Years Day, celebrate the Philly way! The Mummers Day Parade is a more than 120 year old Philadelphia tradition that is full of fun and more than 10,000 costumed adults and children. Join us New Year’s Day along Broad Street starting at City Hall or watch live on PHL17.
