Four trail bridges in Wissahickon Valley Park reopened on September 16, 2022. The bridges are part of the multi-use Lincoln Drive Trail. Parks & Rec closed them in 2021 for major renovations.

This important section of trail:

  • Links Forbidden Drive with the Schuylkill River Trail along Kelly Drive.
  • Connects Northwest Philadelphia and Center City.
  • Serves as a popular route for commuters and recreational cyclists.

After over 40 years of heavy use, the trail bridges were nearing the end of their lifespan. To ensure safety, Parks & Rec closed the bridges in 2021. They underwent a complete restoration and resurfacing. Work included the installation of anti-slip surfacing for the first time.

Philadelphia Parks & Recreation funded this $1.2 million dollar project.
