PHILADELPHIA – Roadway repairs and restoration are scheduled for South 5th Street between Lombard Street and South Street beginning Tuesday, May 3^rd at 6 p.m. through Wednesday, May 4th at 3 p.m., announced Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. This work will result in a temporary full closure to vehicular traffic. The closure will allow Streets Department crews to restore the roadway following damage caused by a water main break this past winter.

Motorists are encouraged to use 3^rd or 7^th Streets as an alternate route. No detour will be posted.  All work is expected to be completed and traffic restored by 3 p.m., Wednesday.  For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to affected motorists, residents, and businesses.  The Streets Department thanks residents in advance for their patience and cooperation as crews work to restore South 5^th Street.
