PHILADELPHIA –  Legendary Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski today announced that his nonprofit organization, Jaws Youth Playbook, is donating $10,000 to support grassroots, volunteer-led youth football programs in the city of Philadelphia.

The donation to the Philadelphia Youth Football Coalition will support the Philadelphia Youth Football Coalition, an organization founded by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation to support the growth and advancement of youth football organizations in the city of Philadelphia.

“Great coaches have an incredible impact on the young people they serve,” said Jaworski. “Lessons learned on the gridiron are easily transferrable into life, and that is why we are so excited to see the Philadelphia Youth Football Coalition come together.  It is amazing to see the love and dedication these coaches give to the young people in their communities, and it is the least we can do to give a little bit of that same support back to them.”

Jaworski made the surprise announcement and check presentation during the opening ceremony of today’s Inaugural Philadelphia Youth Football Coalition Summit.  Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Philadelphia Eagles, is hosting this full-day conference for youth football coaches throughout the city.

The goal of the Youth Football Coalition Summit is to educate and support Philadelphia’s amazing volunteer coaches so they can lead stronger, healthier youth football organizations that can thrive, all in greater service to the youth and communities they serve.

“Youth football coaches in Philadelphia are doing incredible, life saving youth development work every day,” said Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Commissioner Kathryn Ott Lovell. “As a City, we can step up and find new ways to give these true Philly heroes the resources and support they need to continue serving our most vulnerable youth.”

Funds will be used to support members of the Philadelphia Youth Football Summit in building  organizational capacity and expanding league participation.
