No detour will be posted for this short-term closure.
- Westbound traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue will be blocked at 27th Street. Following 27th Street North to Poplar Street and then turning West on Poplar is a suggested route past the construction site. No detour will be posted for this short-term closure.
- Southbound traffic on 29th Street will be blocked at Poplar Street. Turning East on Poplar Street, then South on 28th Street to Pennsylvania Avenue is a suggested route past the construction site. No detour will be posted for this short-term closure.
Parking restrictions will be enforced throughout the duration of the project. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will also be impacted by the closure. SEPTA service will not be affected, as buses will be permitted through the closure to minimize the disruption to mass transit.
The temporary closure will allow City employees to do maintenance on the 29th Street Footbridge, which crosses Pennsylvania Avenue. This work has been scheduled for overnight hours in order to expedite repairs and to minimize the disruption to motorists.
All work will be completed and traffic will be restored prior to Friday’s morning “Rush Hour”. For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to affected drivers, residents, and businesses. The Streets Department thanks residents in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
