The Benjamin Franklin Parkway is having a moment. As residents and visitors return to Center City, there is something for everyone to enjoy on the Parkway this summer.

1. A new day at Eakins Oval

How does Philly welcome visitors back? With a 33,000-square-foot ground mural along Eakins Oval. Welcome Back, Philly conveys a “new day” concept, celebrating the things that have been missing during the pandemic. The Mural Arts Philadelphia and City of Philadelphia project is by local artist Felix St. Fort. Stop by the Oval to check out the streetscape and celebrate a new day for Philly, and the Parkway.

2. The Lawn at LOVE Luck

LOVE Park, the gateway to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, is buzzing with activity this summer. Residents and visitors returning to Center City should bring their appetites. The Lawn at Loveluck is a new park pop-up restaurant from Safran Turney Hospitality. The Lawn is now open Tuesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Stay tuned for the completion of the full-service restaurant coming soon to the LOVE Park Welcome Center.

3. The Parkway Ideas Workshop: July 14 Design Panel

The City of Philadelphia is reimagining what is possible on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The City invited leading urban design teams to share their ideas for making the Parkway more vibrant and welcoming for pedestrians. This limited capacity in-person event will be livestreamed. Register to attend or learn more about the Parkway design project.

4. Gerhard Marcks’ Maja sculpture at Maja Park

Make time to visit the Parkway’s newest public art installation at Maja Park. The brand new 3.5 acre park located at North 22nd Street features the recently restored Gerhard Marcks’ Maja sculpture (pronounced Maya). The breathtaking sculpture was selected and installed by the Association for Public Art (aPA), and offers a peaceful space for reflection just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Center City.

5. Spraygrounds, fountains, and splash pads

Cool down at one of the fountains and spray features along the Parkway. Start at the LOVE Park fountain, and make a stop at the wading pool and splash pad at Sister Cities Park. Visitors closer to the Art Museum and Kelly Drive can cool down at the Von Colln Park sprayground.

6. Coming Soon: Winter Street Dog Run and Playground

Pups will soon have a new place to play on the Parkway. The Winter Street Dog Run and Playground is currently under construction. Look out for this new green space to open for public use later this summer.
