PHILADELPHIA – The Streets Department will be completing paving on three major thoroughfares for the week of June 7th, announced Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams. The resurfacing work for these streets is expected to be partially completed during the evening hours. There will be temporary street closures and parking restrictions to accommodate street resurfacing on the following streets:

  • Walley Avenue from Welsh Road to Krewstown Road
  • Krewstown Road from Walley Avenue to Northeast Avenue Ramp
  • Northeast Avenue from Krewstown Road to Fulmer Street

Work will be completed in three separate phases – street milling, the adjustment of manhole covers and resetting of utility boxes, and final paving – which will take place in separate activities over the course of the week.

Operations for the milling work (removal of old asphalt) will be performed during the overnight hours between 7PM and 3AM for one night.  Work for adjusting manhole covers and resetting utility boxes will be completed during the daytime. Lastly, operations for the final paving will be performed by the contractor during the daytime.

To complete the work, residents should expect parking restrictions.  Temporary ‘No Parking’ signs will be posted in advance of each scheduled activity.  Residents are urged to move their cars from the work sites when temporary ‘No Parking’ signs are posted, so that vehicles are not towed.  In the event a car is towed, please contact your local Police District to determine its location.  Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling around the work areas.

This work is being completed by James J. Anderson Construction Co, Inc. The Streets Department thanks the residents in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project. Residents are asked not to approach employees or contractors for information as they practice social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
