PHILADELPHIA – The southbound lanes of Kelly Drive, between S. Ferry Road and Hunting Park Avenue, will be closed overnight Wednesday, April 28, from 10 p.m. through 4:00 a.m. Thursday, announced Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams.

Southbound (inbound) Kelly Drive traffic will be detoured at S. Ferry Road. Motorists are encouraged to consider alternative routes or turn left onto Ferry Road. Take Ferry Road to Ridge Avenue; turn right onto Ridge Avenue. Travel to Allegheny Avenue; turn left. Take Allegheny Avenue to Hunting Park Avenue; turn right. Follow signs on Hunting Park Avenue to return to Kelly Drive. The pedestrian and bicycle path along the River will also be impacted by the work. Its users should anticipate delays. Northbound traffic on Kelly Drive will not be affected.

The temporary closure will allow City employees to repair roadway safety features along this winding road.  This work has been scheduled for nighttime hours in order to expedite repairs, minimize disruption to motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians, and provide a safe work environment for the workers.

All work will be completed and lanes restored by 4:00 a.m. Thursday, April 29, to assure that the road will be open for “rush hour”.  For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to impacted drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians.  The Streets Department thanks residents in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
