Philadelphia – Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today that work will commence on Monday, June 1 for the Green Light Go (GLG) 3: Cheltenham Avenue Signals Project.
The project is designed to upgrade and improve traffic signal, relevant infrastructure and systems related to City wireless communications along Cheltenham Avenue from Cresecentville Road to Ivy Hill Road. The project will also include the construction of ADA curb ramps, intersection bump outs, and the installation of new street lighting along the corridor.
Work will occur in different stages to maintain traffic during construction, and to minimize impacts to adjacent properties. Contractor may require temporary lane restrictions while completing the work. There will also be parking restrictions in place to complete the work. Temporary ‘No Parking’ signs will be posted in advance of each scheduled activity. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling around the work areas.
The anticipated completion date for this project is June 2021. Work will be performed by Seravalli Contractors, Inc. The value of the construction contract is $9.5 million dollars. The funding source for this project is 80% State-funded Green Light Go Program grant funding and 20% City match. Construction is expected to be completed by June 2021.
