When: Every Tuesday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Alain Locke School, 4550 Haverford Ave., 19104

Stop by this pop-up pantry on Tuesdays for free, healthy groceries! This pantry is run by the People’s Emergency Center and features perishable and nonperishable food. Drexel’s Eat Right Philly program also hosts cooking demonstrations between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

What: Sign up to volunteer with the Philly Reading Coaches
When: All month long
Where: Citywide

Philly Reading Coaches, part of Philadelphia’s Out of School Time Initiative, is seeking volunteers at 20+ sites throughout the city. Helps children grow more comfortable with reading by pairing them with volunteers for fun, one-on-one reading sessions for at least one hour a week. Each child also receives 25 free books to take home so they can continue discovering the joys of reading.

What: Sign up for free adult education classes at Community Schools
When: Throughout the month, please note class start dates
Where: Throughout the city

Enrollment is now open for free adult education classes in many of the City’s Community Schools! Classes begin in January and February 2020 and end in May.
Classes include Adult Basic Education (ABE) – reading, writing, and math and English as a Second Language (ESL). To enroll residents must be 16 or older and attend an intake session.

What: Planting the Seeds of Wealth
When: Tuesday, February 25, 6 to 8 p.m.

Learn from City civic leaders and entrepreneurs about building and transferring wealth to the next generation, estate planning, insurance, tangled titles, and financial tools that support these efforts.

This event is hosted by the Mayor’s Office of Black Male Engagement in honor of Black History Month. It is part of The Black Generational Wealth series for the bi-monthly MBK Action Academy.
