On September 17, Philly Counts is kicking off our Census Champion Training Program. We’re hosting more than 50 sessions across Philadelphia in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Arabic, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language. Since April 2019, Philly Counts has been working with our Complete Count Committee, subcommittees, community organizations, and volunteers to reach all communities and demographics in Philadelphia.

Census Champions are the second-to-last step of Philly Counts’ ladder of engagement. By taking one step at a time, people who receive information about the census become volunteers, then Census Champions, and finally, Action Leaders. Our goal is having at least one Action Leader in every census tract.

Philly Counts is training over 1,000 people to be Census Championstrusted messengers that are armed with knowledge and the tools to accurately answer hard questions about the census. Census Champions motivate their family, friends, and neighbors to answer their census form, whether online, over the phone, or via paper form.
