PHILADELPHIA – The Streets Department will be resurfacing streets in Center City on Friday, September 13th from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Streets Commissioner Carlton Williams announced today. The streets that will be resurfaced are:

  • 17th St from Ben Franklin Parkway to Arch Street
  • Arch St from 16th to 17th Streets

This work will require a full closure as the crews perform their work. Motorists are encouraged to use 19th and 15th St while traveling in the area. No detour will be posted. The Streets Department will be coordinating with SEPTA during this detour.

Motorists should expect temporary parking restrictions while crews perform the work. Temporary ‘No Parking’ signs will be posted. Motorists are urged to move their cars from the work sites where signs are posted, so that vehicles are not towed. In the event a car is towed, please contact your local Police District to determine its location. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling around the work areas.

The Streets Department thanks citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation as we work to improve city streets. For more information on the City’s paving program, please click here. For information on all City services, please call 311.
