Mayor Kenney and Commissioner Thiel will discuss AR-2, the new EMS alternative response unit that focuses on overdoses.
This innovative approach to the opioid epidemic — part of the Philadelphia Resilience Project — involves paramedics and social service case managers traveling together to provide care and support to overdose survivors, with the ultimate goal of getting them into treatment.
The initiative is a collaboration among the Fire Department, Health Department, Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, and other agencies.
