If you’re looking for a way to give back to your community this month, check out the Community Closets at some of our Community Schools! These resource rooms provide students, families, and community members with important necessities like clothing, school supplies, and hygiene products – all for free.

Community Closets are for everyone, and can make a big difference in an individual’s life.

Please reach out to our Community School Coordinators to schedule your visit:

Shop or give to the following Community Closets:

  • Alain Locke School, 4550 Haverford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104
    Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. AND 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Samuel Gompers School, 5701 Wynnefield Avenue, Philadelphia PA, 19131
    Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. AND 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • South Philadelphia High School, 2101 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19148
    Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. AND 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Community Closets accept and carry the following items:

  • New and unused toiletries (soap, shampoo, lotion, deodorant, etc.)
  • Household items (laundry detergent, hand soap, cleaning supplies)
  • Houseware items (unused bedding, kitchen supply items)
  • Handbags, purses, and backpacks
  • Clothing items. All items must be clean with no visible stains or rips
  • Student uniforms
    • Alain Locke: navy pants/skirts and blue shirts (navy blue preferred)
    • Samuel Gompers: daily – black pants, red polo shirts; gym days – black sweatpants or shorts, red t-shirts
    • South Philadelphia High School: tan/khaki pants with red, white, black, or SPHS shirts
    • Professional clothing (suits, ties, jackets, dresses, skirts)
    • Seasonal clothing

Community Closets DO NOT accept or carry:

  • Stained or ripped clothing
  • Used undergarments
  • Used linens or bedding
