From apple pressings to cider tastings, we’re celebrating our favorite fall fruit with apple-themed events! Check out what you can do with this festive food in Philly parks, farms, and gardens.

Apple Pressing on Forbidden Drive

Join us on Forbidden Drive near Northwestern Avenue for this annual celebration of autumn. Help make fresh apple cider using an old-fashioned cider press.

When: Saturday, September 29 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

CiderFest at the Historic Houses of Fairmount Park

Spend a sparkling autumn afternoon at six historic houses in Fairmount Park, sipping on cider samples from some of the best cideries around. There will be over 20 PA ciders, free self-guided house tours, and live music. This event is for visitors aged 21 and over only. ID required.

When: Saturday, September 29 from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
Where: 6 historic houses in Fairmount Park
Cost: $40 in advance (purchase online), $50 day-of

Little Explorers Apple Cider Fest

Apple pressing is for kids too! The monthly children’s program at Bartram’s Garden will feature a day of fall apple activities. Take a turn crushing apples in an old cider press to make fresh apple cider. The program is for toddlers and preschoolers ages 2-4, with pre-registration and one adult chaperone for every two children required.

When: Wednesday, October 3, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Where: Bartram’s Garden (5400 Lindbergh Blvd., 19143)
Cost: $12 per child, free for members

10th Annual Community Apple Festival at Woodford Mansion

Woodford Mansion will be hosting its 10th Annual Community Apple Festival on the mansion grounds and orchard. There will be cider making, apple tasting, pumpkin painting, live music, children’s games, and an apple dessert contest, plus refreshments. Orchard and mansion tours are free and available to all guests! Volunteers are needed for this event.

When: Saturday, October 20, 12 p.m.-2 p.m.

Applefest at Fox Chase Farm

Enjoy a day of cider pressing, along with apple butter making, hayrides, seasonal games, pumpkin painting, music, and more! Pumpkins, apples, apple butter, and cider will be for sale.
