PHILADELPHIA – Mayor Kenney today released the following statement on the Justice Department’s decision to remove Judge Steven Morley from dozens of immigration cases.  The National Association of Immigration Judges this week filed a grievance over the DOJ action.

“I am disappointed in the DOJ’s removal of Philadelphia Immigration Judge Steven Morley, though not surprised by it. The Judge was targeted for perceived criticism of the Attorney General, when in reality he was exercising his independent decision-making authority and upholding the requirements of due process. The removal is consistent with this administration’s tactic of punishing those who do not agree with their heartless, thoughtless, and misguided immigration agenda.”
