Looking for weekend plans? We’ve got a few suggestions: from an improv comedy show in Northern Liberties, to some jazz in Clarkson Park, to getting active on MLK Jr. Drive!

Improv Comedy Night

A night of improv is bound to be full of laughs! This comedy night, hosted by Joey Beams, is free.

When: Friday, August 10, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Northern Liberties Recreation Center (321 Fairmount Ave., 19123)
Cost: Free

Mayor’s Cup Championship

The Mayor’s Cup was born out of a simple observation: Philadelphia has a tremendous network of local running clubs. The Cup is actually five events, held on a single day, with a single start/finish line. Runners from different communities– fast runners and slow runners, trail runners and road runners, ultra-runners and 5K specialists, competitors and volunteers– come together to represent their “team.”

When: Saturday, August 11, 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: West Fairmount Park, starts at Belmont Plateau (1800 Belmont Mansion Dr, 19131)
Cost: Free
More info: Register at runsignup.com/PhiladelphiaMayorsCup.

Where: Clarkson Park (5450 N. Old York Rd., 19141)
Cost: Free

Ride or run on MLK, Jr. Drive

Did you know you can ride your bike or run on MLK, Jr. Drive each Saturday and Sunday? This four-mile stretch is closed off to cars every Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. so that runners, cyclists, and pedestrians have the road to themselves. Please note: the portion between the Art Museum and Sweetbriar Drive reopens to vehicles at 12 p.m.; Sweetbriar to the East Falls Bridge remains closed to vehicles through 5 p.m.

This closure runs from April through October. Check it out this weekend!

When: Sunday, August 12, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Where: MLK, Jr. Drive (also known as West River Drive)
Cost: Free

And as always, Parks on Tap continues to travel around the city! This weekend, Parks on Tap travels to Dickinson Square.
